Maintenance: Broadloom -
Berclon
At
last, a broadloom carpet which only requires a minimum of
maintenance
Thanks to the special Berclon® fibre, dirt and
dust can hardly penetrate in your carpet. Below are some useful
maintenance tips for your Berclon® carpet. If you
observe these hints you will have many years of pleasure from
your broadloom carpet.
Prevention is always best
Put doormats in front of the front door to collect the dirt.
In this way, you will ensure that dirt from outside does not
reach your broadloom carpet. Also remember that dark carpets
show dirt and stains less than light carpets.
Low-level maintenance
We recommend that you regularly clean your fitted carpet from
the first day you have it. In this way you will ensure that
dust does not get trapped and fibres become damaged. It is
best to use a vacuum cleaner with rotating brushes. These
vacuum cleaners are certainly more expensive, but they are
much better at removing dust and dirt. Superficial dirt and
stains can best be removed with a carpet cleaner. Read the
instructions properly and always deal with stains as quickly
as possible.
High-level maintenance
To maintain the quality and durability of your fitted carpet,
Balta Industries recommend that you regularly have your carpet
professionally cleaned.
First aid for stains
Act quickly
Immediately wipe off the stain with a clean cloth or kitchen
roll. First remove any solid pieces with a spoon. Decide what
has caused the stain and choose the appropriate cleaning agent
from the table.
Be thorough
Use a clean cloth on the stain. A carpet cleaner can be used
for most stains. If you do not have one at home, dip the cloth
into a substance which is recommended in the table. Use enough
of this substance, but not too much. Ensure that the cleaning
product and dirt are completely rinsed out of the carpet.
You should only walk on the carpet again when the spot which
has been cleaned is completely dry.
A. Water
Wipe off as much of the stain as possible with a clean, white
doth or kitchen roll. Then work at the stain with a damp cloth
and rub until no more dirt appears on the cloth or kitchen
roll.
B. Lye
(1 tablespoon of soap powder in a quarter of a litre of water)
Wipe off as much of the stain as possible with a clean, whit
cloth or kitchen roll. Then work at the stain with a cloth
which has been soaked in the soapy water. Afterwards rub until
no more dirt appears on the cloth or paper. Important: continue
to rinse with clean water and remove remaining soap powder
with a clean cloth or kitchen roll.
C. Diluent
Wipe off the stain with a cloth which has been soaked in diluent
until no more dirt appears on the cloth.
Important: Never pour a cleaning agent on to the stain!
D. Stain remover
Wipe off the stain with a cloth which has been soaked in benzine
until no more dirt appears on the cloth.
Important: Never pour a cleaning agent on to the stain!
E. Acetone
Wipe off the stain with a cloth which has been soaked in acetone
until no more dirt appears on the cloth.
Important: Never pour a cleaning agent on to the stain!
Subsequent treatment
If some dirt still remains on the carpet after it has been
cleaned, you can set to work on it with a chlorine solution
(mix 50% water with 50% bleach). After the remaining dirt
has been bleached off, you must rinse the chlorine solution
with clean water and remove. When the spot in question is
completely dry, the fitted carpet should be vacuumed!
